This project aims to explore the perceptions, experiences, identities, and institutional support of 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Veterans and their families in the post-LGBT Purge era. It examines the lifelong impacts of military service on these Veterans and their families as they transition out of service, reintegrate into the community, access community services, and enter long-term care. The project seeks to address unasked and unanswered questions for equity-deserving military Veterans and families, who may face additional barriers to accessing care and supports. The goal is to inform program and policy development within CAF and Veterans Affairs Canada to ensure the needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ military and Veteran families are being met, and to promote culturally sensitive approaches to care and positive culture change.
