Sporting events like the Invictus Games and Warrior Games have popularized the use of adaptive sports as rehabilitative tools for wounded, injured and/or sick military members and Veterans. Participating in adaptive sports can have positive health and social benefits for the competitors, but what about the families? Family members support and enable athletic participation. The Invictus Games and Warrior Games seek to support families at the competitions, and not just the competitors. This research project aims to understand how to best support families by examining current best practices to create strategies for policies and programs.
